☔ Rainy Wedding Day?
Here's How to Embrace It with Grace (and a Little Magic)
At Yours Truly – Planning & Coordinating, we know that even the most carefully planned weddings can’t control the weather. And while most couples hope for sunshine and blue skies, sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. But guess what? A little rain doesn’t mean your day is ruined—it just means your story has a little extra romance.
Here are some of our favorite tips to help you prepare for (and even enjoy) a rainy wedding day:
1. Have a Backup Plan
If you’re planning an outdoor ceremony or reception, always (and we mean always) have a Plan B. A tent, a covered pavilion, or an indoor space can be your best friend when the forecast turns gray. We’ll help you make sure it’s just as beautiful as your original vision.
2. Bring Clear Umbrellas
Not only are they practical, but they’re adorable in photos. Clear umbrellas let the light in, don’t block your face, and add a romantic vibe to rainy day portraits. We keep a stash of them ready for events just in case the clouds roll in.
3. Trust Your Photographer
A good photographer knows how to make rain work for you. Moody skies, soft lighting, and reflective puddles can all create breathtaking images. Some of the most intimate, emotional moments we’ve seen happen when couples are wrapped in an umbrella and each other.
4. Prep Your Dress and Shoes
If you’re going to be walking through wet grass or muddy paths, consider lifting your hemline for portraits or wearing a pair of bridal boots or cute white sneakers for your outdoor shots. You can always switch back into heels later—no one has to know!
5. Stay Flexible—and Laugh About It
The truth is, rain happens. But your wedding is still your wedding. If your attitude stays joyful, your memories will too. We've coordinated weddings through every kind of weather, and we can promise you this: your guests will remember the love, not the weather.
6. Use the Rain as a Moment
Want to make your wedding feel unforgettable? Run into the rain for a kiss. Take a stroll together under one umbrella. Or dance in the drizzle at the end of the night. Those unplanned, imperfectly perfect moments? That’s what weddings are made of.
Rain doesn’t ruin a wedding—it makes it unforgettable.
And no matter what the forecast says, Yours Truly will be there to coordinate, pivot, and make sure the day flows beautifully—rain or shine.
